What is happiness?

Her colleagues openly made fun of her at work. Her neighbors shrugged their shoulders bewilderedly at her. Even her close friends could not understand her so called "eccentricity". The problem was in her car.

In her shabby, squeaking, slow and desperately old-fashioned car. Her best friend often hinted that a person with her status (after all she was the director of an established company) should drive a better car than this old compact. But she always turned everything into a joke and smiled kindly. This car for her was much more then just a vehicle.

... Happiness from the birth of her first-born dramatically turned into a despair, after a terrible medical diagnosis: 25% of your son’s brain is atrophied. A part of his face is paralyzed. He will live, but as a vegetable… Her heart sank to the abyss of despair.

The endless months of her son’s first year. Messages, injections, medical procedures. Day by day, hour by hour she extracted small victories. By the end of his first year they managed to overcome the apoplexy. Exercises, games, walks. All her energy – was devoted to the child. It just can't be that way, I won’t allow him to be a vegetable! He may be a late developer. But not a vegetable at least. The real progress started when he was three. Doctors couldn't believe it: it’s a miracle, it can't be true! At 5 years of age it turned out that the child had talent for music. The best pupil in the music school. The winner of a city music contest. The best in the district. And finally comes the most prestigious contest. He is only ten. Victory!!! But not only a contest victory. Victory against illness, victory against sorrow, victory against destiny.

All the prize money ($1000) he spent on a present for Mommy. He bought her a used car. The best, the most beautiful, the most precious car in the world. His real prize – a normal life.
